I sat for my Certification exam in February 1978, after completing the challenge exams through the University of N.C. A study group was formed in 1974 for/by the women (on the job trained dental assistants)who were interested in becoming a CDA. I became a CDA in February 1978. I am still current and plan to be current until I retire. I was awarded the Sunstar Americas 2007 Pride Award for Business Assistant. I have been a Delegate, representing the RIDAA, at the ADAA Annual Conference several times. I’ve attended the Yankee Dental Conference several years. Attended the leadership Conference September 2015.
I have worked for the same dentists for 34 years and in 2017 I received the ADAA Loyal Assistant Award.
I have been married to my husband, Charles (Charlie) for 48 years. Charlie helps me keep up with all my activities in the RIDAA as an unpaid secretary (per Charlie). We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. I am proud of them all. I am involved in my church as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. I have been a choir member and helped the ladies with the crafts that are made for our Church Bazaar.
I have been a DANB certified dental assistant since May of 2016. My interest in the dental field began when I was a young teenager, through the education I received from the professionals at my dental office. I love being a dental assistant and hope by being with the RIDAA I am able to give back to my community. I serve as the Recording Secretary for RIDAA. I currently work at a wonderful office in Cranston. In my spare time I enjoy reading, and spending time with my family.
here are many things that make this world go round, but have you ever thought about the power of a smile? A smile is happy, beautiful, strong, uplifting, and so much more. I am proud to say that I am a certified dental assistant and I get to help people improve their smiles, the function of their teeth, and overall confidence with their appearance. Seeing someone with tears of joy after improving the function and esthetics of their teeth is an amazing opportunity, which I am grateful to be a part of. I enjoy being involved in RIDAA! It allows me to continue to learn and help others within my field.
